Tierra Kirkland is a Nationally Certified Counselor, supervisor approvedLCMHC in the North Carolina and an LPC in SC. She has extensive professional experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the outpatient therapy, the school setting, shelters and community agencies. Her clinical background is focused on best practice transition planning, complex trauma, multi-system involvement, and youth sexual harm. Trained in evidence-based and evidence-informed practices such as Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma for Adolescents (ITCT-A), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Practice Self-Regulation (PS-R), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Seeking Safety, Resource Parent Curriculum (RPC), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). In addition to being a PS-R national trainer, she is also a Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (C.A.R.E) Facilitator, and has presented on various platforms locally and nationally. She is known to be a strong community partner and participates in committees focusing on improving outcomes for children and families and system-wide improvements in trauma-informed care. Her approach has grown from the saying “your current situation is not your final destination” and challenges false narratives that thwart the growth and healing of so many.
